My First Blog which was published in The Hindu

I always had the thought of reducing global warming and I was puzzled on how to contribute my part by planting a tree in this concrete and congested jungle. Then the idea of purchasing a bicycle ran through my mind. I finally bought a 6 geared bicycle after surfing lot of websites.

I just bought it a month back keeping in mind to reduce my fuel expenses and also to reduce global warming. I zipped down the roads with my new cycle and many people were seeing me as if I was driving a Ferrari on the roads of Chennai. I was very happy to pedal a cycle after 3 long years. I had a feeling that I owned the roads since traffic police do not stop cyclists for jumping signals and one ways.

I raced down through the memory lanes of my school. My mind was flashing with the incidents where I and my mates enjoyed the school days by doing lot of stunts, wheelies, skids etc. After school we use to go home in triples despite getting so many scolding’s from our parents not to do so.

The thrill in riding a bicycle has lost its glory. I was astonished to see some section of school students coming out of their school in pulsar’s and cbz’s at such a young age. We can hardly spot bicycles these days. It will be very nice if people switch over to their bicycle’s once again. I’m not telling u to stash away your vehicles. Instead of going to the nearby shops, friend’s place etc, in your vehicle, bicycle will be a great replacement. It’s also a good work out for our body.

By pedalling a bicycle we save our mother earth by reducing global warming. I have contributed my part to reduce global warming. Have you?
